Hey kids,
Thank you all for the help you've given in my previous posts/questions.
Here's another one...

I'm looking for a reasonably priced but good Japanese restaurant. The closer to the cbd the better and public transport near the place would be needed.
Any recommendations?

Thanks again!

Edit to be more specific.
Not looking for a sushi train, in my opinion vegetarian sushi is bad. Not looking for altra cheap, i do want something that's quite decent but not over the top price wise.
A nice, sit down place that won't scare off my wallet.

current song: The Replacements - Within Your Reach | Powered by Last.fm

about 2 years ago i decided, hey lets redo my bedroom. but it has not worked out that way due to money.
i am looking to redo everything cheap and have had the same idea in mind for a long time.

my end goal was to have a dark red color on all of the walls with a somewhat antique and modern mix for the rest of the room.
i wanted all black or dark wood furniture or possibly a black cast iron bed and all of the fabric to be white. i already have various art that my friend is willing to make for me or has already made that matches this idea.

my thing is that my parents think that these colors are wayyyy too dark or completely horrible. i really have no problem with this since if i had my way, i would have as little natural light as possible. i really like things to be dark. i have 2 windows in my room though and when i painted the room, the color came out completely wrong and is now more of a bright red, which i hate. i was thinking more of a deep red or a reddish/purple.

i have no idea if this color is too dark or how to pull it off and i cant find a room that looks similar to what i want online so i can show my family that the idea in my head wont come out horrible.

is this too dark or does anyone have anything visual that is close to what i want?

The RSPCA currently has this brilliant rewards scheme where if you donate $100, you receive vouchers for over $5000 worth of food, entertainment, hair and beauty treatments, gym memberships, car servicing, movie rentals, photography sessions and so on.

The website is:
http://www.rspca-gratitude.com/

There's a list of different regions to pick from as well so you don't have to drive for miles to actually use the vouchers.

So please, take a look and seriously consider donating. It's for an excellent cause and it's excellent value for money.

Hey Brisneylanders!

Since arriving back in the town of my birth a few weeks ago, I have been thirsting for the opportunity to sing in a group again. I've done my time in choirs - the eisteddfod-winning kind, and the community kind alike as well as youth-choir conducting. I'm not really sure I want to go down the whole big-choir road again - however I think I'd like to investigate the whole small a-capella group thing. How small? I don't really know - anything from 3 to 10 I suppose. I have a background in conducting and choral music as well as musical theatre, however I'm not looking to recruit choristers per se. Right now - I'm putting out feelers to any experienced harmony singers (any age/sex), who would like to be involved in such a group.

No expectations and certainly no obligations - at the very least it would be great to meet some likeminded people who are as passionate about singing and harmony as I am. I don't know where it's going - or what it's going to look like - I just want to be a part of it - and after extensive googling, Brisbane is lacking on googleable a capella opportunities.

I've lived in this apartment for almost seven years now and I have never figured out what to do with my room. The room is a generally odd shape and there's a back door in it. I also have to have space for the cat litter box, food and ect. Right now it's painted this horrible green and orange color scheme, I don't even know what I was thinking when I did it. And I don't have a bed. So I sleep on the floor.

My style is like French Cafe mixed with modern and not so modern east asian flair. None of my furniture matches really because it's hand me down. I also collect things like owls and have 45792843573 books so I need room for all of that.

Looking for a couch
by Karisita ([info]karisitas)
at December 30th, 2009 (03:40 pm)

Hey!! Hope everyone had a great holiday!!

I'm looking for a couch/lounge for our tiny living room. Currently we have two couches and a recliner but it makes the room look really crowded. I'm hoping to find a sectional couch, specifically an L-shaped one with corner seating if that makes any sense as I'm not sure what they're called. I'm hoping a sectional will give us enough seating but make the lounge area look less crowded. Does anyone have one they're willing to pass along or sell for cheap? Or know of  a place that sells them for ultra cheap as I can't really afford anything too pricey and so far every place I've looked has things that don't even come close to my price range. I've asked on freecycle, but haven't really gotten any responses except for one couch that unfortunately wasn't suitable.

Thanks in advance! *keeps fingers crossed*

Also, while I'm here - anyone know of a good, affordable carpet cleaning service? I was gonna rent from Woolies/Coles and do it myself but neither place offers rentals anymore. I'm in Annerley.   GOT ONE!!

Wedding rings
by katrina ([info]katrina_splat)
at December 30th, 2009 (01:47 pm)

Does anyone have any good places to suggest looking for wedding rings? In the city or Indro preferably, but I can travel. Am probably going with something non-traditional, or if traditional, very minimalist. Any recommendations for what will wear well over time would be good too, or hell, if you have a pretty awesome wedding tattoo or necklace, I'm open to those ideas too :P.

I've never shopped for 'real' jewellery in my life, I don't exactly have a budget but I'm not looking for a giant rock. Any places to find nice man rings (that don't look like every other one out there) is also great. I'm contemplating a claddagh ring in white gold, possibly titanium for him, but want to see something in person rather than just order online.

To people on my flist -- this in no way consitutes an official announcement, I'm just looking for information, I promise ;).

For Sale-Washing Machine

Hello

I'll be moving overseas soon and thus need to sell my washing machine. It's a Simpson 4.5kg front loader that works perfectly and is in very good condition. I bought it secondhand a year ago for $150 and would like to sell it for $100. It's available to be picked up from Taringa. Please let me know if you are interested, I can provide pictures if you like.

Thanks!

Would anybody have some recommendations for language schools around Brisbane please? I'd like to take up Spanish again (after a pathetic attempt to learn back in uni, I remember nada). I work regular office hours so I'm thinking one night a week would be perfect, and I'd prefer to go to a class than hire a private tutor.

I'm currently looking at The Spanish Cat. Does anyone have any experience with them?

:)

I was hoping to go into one of my local beauty bars and get various parts of myself waxed and pampered either today or tomorrow but I'm having huge issues finding anywhere that's open! Can any of you suggest a place that does waxing close to Hawthorne / Bulimba area that is open?

Thanks all!

Scrap that, I've found a place that's open on Oxford Street - A Touch of Grace. Thank goodness for the good folks that keep this city rolling over the holiday period! :D
